A couple of weeks ago I donated half a dozen of my suits to a veterans' organization. Those suits were from my former life as a bank operations manager. I left my banking job over ten years ago. I haven't worn those suits since I left that job in 1998.

Me in business work drag at my last banking job - First Financial Bank Downingtown, PA |
Out of habit I kept the suits hanging in my closet"just in case." Ha! Like "just in case" I got another banking job? Fat chance of that ever happening. But still, those suits hung in my closet, taking up space and collecting dust for years. That is until I faced reality that I'm never going to have a banking job again or any job where I have to wear suit work drag.
My present part-time job, which I will probably have until I can no longer function, I can wear just about anything short of tank tops and flip flops. I dress nice but I don't wear suits.
I'm keeping a couple pair of dark Navy blue suits. One to be buried in and one to attend funerals. Ah yes folks, that is probably the only time I will wear a suit in my remaining years on this planet.
Last week I saw a newspaper article about the new slim suits and how now all men are buying those suits. Yikes! Have you seen those suits? What's that? The Spiderman influence?

The Actor James Marsden in the latest Hollywood decreed style |
Boy am I glad I don't wear suits anymore. And when I do wear one of my loosely fitting suits, no one is going to notice because I'm either going to be laying in a coffin or milling around amongst the other mourners, sad faced, looking at the deceased layer out in shiny satin lined coffin. Who wants to look like the latest Flavor of the Month movie star with one of THOSE ill fitting suits.
Now is it me or do they look very uncomfortable? First thing that comes to my mind when I see a guy sitting who is wearing one of those suits is that I'm reminded of the small two bedroom apartment where I grew up in Downingtown . . . . no ball room.
Put me down in the old fuddy duddy column but I'm sticking with my baggy suit.
