I'm not quite sure what the message is here - help me |
Folks, I'm losing track of time. I think I missed a day's posting but I'm not sure. Everyday we're doing something. Just a few minutes ago we got back from the Mulholland Drive and the most fantastic view of Los Angles. I took the banner picture of the "Hollywood" sign about an hour ago just before sunset. A little blurred because I was so far away I had to use the telephoto lens.
I know you're all probably tired of hearing this but I am having the fantastic vacation. Not only is the weather is perfect, but every day - something different. We don't have anything specifically planned, we just head out and see what happens.
This morning Pat wanted to visit a couple of modern furniture stores he missed the other day. He thought I would be bored but I wasn't. I like modern furniture even though I have a collection of about one hundred doilies my Mother made over the years.
This morning we did something really exciting and glamourous, we washed our unmentionables at the local laundromat which, coincidentally is also named "The Hollywood Laundry." Gee, what a coincidence being right off the Hollywood Boulevard and all.

Checking out the view of Hollywood from Mulholland Drive |
Yesterday we thought we went to Pasadena but it turned out we were still in Hollywood. Pat wanted to go to the MOCA Museum of contemporary art. The museum is right across the street from the Walt Disney Symphony Hall. I was surprised how fast we got to Pasadena and all the tall buildings. And here I'm thinking "Little Old Lady From Pasadena" and small, bungalow buildings. Turns out we were actually still in Los Angeles! Hey, what do I know? I'm only a tourist.
We were in luck because the museum was featuring the "Shadow" work by Andy Wharhol and works of other artists like Rauschenberg and Jasper Johns. Their art isn't my style but interesting none the less. Actually, I've seen some of that "art" when I visiting where my father was a boy in the hillbilly mountains of western North Carolina. Just saying, not passing judgement here folks.
We had lunch at another vegan restaurant, this one in Pasadena. Then back home and I forgot what we did then. Things are starting to run together folks.

Vegan fare in Pasadena |
Last night was the first night we didn't go out late. We stayed in and watched the Mel Brooks movie "High Anxiety" on my MacBook Pro. We were to bed at a decent hour (before 11) for the first time since we landed in LA.
Oh, I almost forgot. After we visited the two modern furniture stores in downtown LA this morning, I asked Pat to stop at Target. Ever since I've been in LA (I love saying that "Ever since I've been in LA") I've been feeling out of style. All I had was my two old boring long sleeve work drag shirts. I also have several short sleeve shirts and a couple of pullovers, which I haven't worn at all. For most of my stay I've been wearing my ratting, nubby maroon red J.C. Penney sweater. The weather here has been super but a little too warm for my sweater but not hot enough for my short sleeve shirts. I felt I needed a "with-in" stylish sweater to wear with my black jeans. Although my jeans don't have the now faddish tight leg (I'm not going to go there folks) they are quite nice with a current type sweater, which I was able to buy. I don't have a photo of me in it now but trust me, I look like I belong in LA now instead of some old fogey from the East Coast.
