Whoops! Looks like I got ahead of myself yesterday with the "new part-time job" thing. I've hit a major snag. More like a reality bites thing. I should have known better.
Oh I know I'm doing a lot of teasing here but frankly I'm embarrassed. I think I fooled myself that I could make money off of my blog. Yes, this blog. Yes, this guy who hates ads on blogs. I was going to go that way. Just to earn a little extra cash to replenish the coffers here at Casa Tipton-Kelly where I'm no longer working the hotel and Bill's modest Social Security benefits are no longer contributing to the upkeep of Casa Tipton-Kelly. Oh, I can keep things going with my fixed income but prices, as you know, keep going up. That's why I was considering swallowing my pride and consenting to having AdSense by Google display the occasional advertisement on my blog.
I was well on my way to setting things up yesterday but then ran into two major roadblocks.
For one, I just don't get that many "hits" or Views on my blog even though I've been blogging for twenty years now. But as I've often said, I've been blogging for myself, not necessarily for "hits", or fame and fortune. Blogging for me is my form of therapy. Some pay to go to a therapist. That's not for me though, to pay someone to listen to me. Works for others I understand but not for me. If I have to pay for someone to listen to my woeful life story. My inhibitions and hangups, as I said not for me.
The second problem is that Google hasn't approved my blog for its AdSense ads. Probably because of the low number of page views my blog generates.
I did a more research (on Gemini, Google's AI assistant) and discovered that with the number of hits my blog receives that I maybe could generate (ready for this), maybe a dollar a month. Oh my, the hurt pride! So I'm not quite the big deal I thought I was.
So here I am, back at Square One, resuming my place among the Great Unwashed. Reality bites.
